The polka dot jersey (French: Maillot à pois) is the jersey worn by the leader of one of the accessory rankings of the Tour de France. Unlike the other jerseys, this one is not assigned on the basis of times, but based on the scores achieved by the riders in the various GPM (Grand Prix of the Mountain). It is worn by the leader of the climbers classification.
Tom Skujiņš became the first Latvian to wear the polka dot jersey after Stage 5 of the 2018 Tour de France.
Toms Skujiņš is a Latvian professional road racing cyclist currently riding for Trek - Segafredo. In July 2018, he was named in the start list for the Tour de France. He won the combativity award on the fifth stage in both 2018 and 2019. Skujiņš finished second on the eighth stage of the 2020 Tour de France after spending the day in a breakaway. The Tour is considered to be the toughest and most important stage race in the world reserved for professional cyclists.
